How We Replaced a SAP-Based System and Built an Efficient Warehouse Management Platform for a Client

Client Summary

Yodaplus developed a Warehouse Management System Plus (WMS+) for a prominent retail chain business. The WMS+ is a comprehensive supply chain management system that tracks the movement of goods from a warehouse to stores in different locations.

WMS+ helps the retail chain client by storing products in a single point contact warehouse and tracking their transfer to different locations (store or RPC) within the region. It also tracks goods received from suppliers and their distribution to the respective stores in that area.

From inventorying the goods at the warehouse to monitoring the goods' movement, WMS+ tracks the entire supply chain in and out of the warehouse. It even schedules goods movement. The in-built Dispatch Module of WMS+ helps load the goods onto the trucks and dispatch them timely to the respective stores to sell to the end customer.

Yodaplus had made WMS+ available as an Android app and a web application for seamless tracking. It tracks every inbound and outbound process for every item in the warehouse from its receiving to its dispatch.

Challenges/Objective

The client faced several challenges with their supply chain systems based on SAP. The system was slow, complex, and required many table entries that needed qualified human resources to enter details precisely into the particular table, and, most importantly, the system was very expensive to maintain.

Yodaplus has built WMS+ to overcome these challenges. The new system hosts several enhancements over the SAP systems, including a search module, an update barcode module, an LPN module, a dispatch module, and others that make warehouse management efficient, fast, and inexpensive.

WMS+ performs better than the SAP system. It is less complex, highly transparent, and easily scalable.

The system has a simple interface, tracks goods in real time, and processes data faster.

WMS+ has an APK that supports Android-based devices like smartphones and tablets, making warehouse management convenient even for the floor manager.

The web application of WMS+ features reports of all the processes in a warehouse. It enables easy tracking of goods, which is generally a cumbersome process in an SAP system.

The application has been rigorously tested multiple times to accommodate all types of scenarios faced by the users in the warehouse, leaving no chance for errors.
